Goodbye CA, Hello TN!!

We had so much fun in California.  It was just a nice trip.  Even though it was almost a month long it didn't feel like it.  I never found myself thinking it was too long.  It was perfectly spaced out with work, activities, and people to visit.  Heidi's highlights were the beach and the camp out.  Kaylee's were the ice cream sandwiches and candy at the parade (her whole life is based around candy).  Daisy had fun smiling at her extended family, most she met for the first time.  My highlight was just watching the girls play with their extended family.  It was fun.  We had a great time.  Thanks to all those who made our trip wonderful!

We do love being home though.  The drive home was GREEN opposed to the brown town of Oroville.  My house is spacious because we don't have that much stuff to fill our house with.  My kitchen is healthier since there isn't a never ending supply of Peanut M&M's or ice cream sandwiches to tempt me (or the kids).  My husband is as cute as ever and I love being home with him.

Here is a quick story from our trip home...Kaylee was misbehaving so I told her she was not allowed to have any chocolate or candy for the rest of the day.  Hours later during a lay-over I pulled out the chocolate covered raisins.  I told Kaylee since they were chocolate covered she couldn't have any because she had misbehaved (Kaylee is horrible when she has candy-it is all she will ever eat!)  Anyway, minutes later she told me that she doesn't call them chocolate covered raisins.  She just calls them covered raisins so since they were just covered raisins could she have some.  I gave in because she makes me laugh.

The Campout

We had a campout with all the cousins last night. We roasted marshmallows and hot dogs first then got ready for bed. Than told the kids ghost stories before bed-actual ghost stories that even had Daisy jumping. We wondered how long it would take for the kids to fall asleep. Pacen nodded off during my rendition of Cinderella. Kaylee fell asleep during Sleeping Beauty. And then good ole Heidi told the most boring story about sand castles that put Camry to sleep. By midnight we got to go to bed.
We also wondered who would make it through the night. This was at 5:40 in morning. Only my girls made it through. Regardless of the bed wetting, ear aches and pillow fights I am still glad we did it. I hope the kids will remember sleeping out with their cousins and what fun it was.

Memorial Day

We went to visit Ben's grandpa for memorial day weekend. The girls weren't even aware that they had a great-grandpa so it was good for them to see his grave. Daisy had no problem with walking all over it.
This is Ben's grandma. She is going to be buried there as well. She already has her name on the headstone.

I like this picture.

Beach Day

We went to visit my sister down in Fremont and spent the day at the beach. The girls LOVED it. This is Daisy on the way.
Heidi's first time at the ocean. She loved the whole thing. It has been her favorite part of the trip so far.

Kaylee was surprisingly happy at the beach. She was a little rotten when we didn't have peanut butter and jelly for her but after she refused the sandwich, buried her carrots in the sand and just decided not to eat she was happy again.
The first thing Daisy did when we set her down was eat a handful of sand. It didn't bother her at all. She even enjoyed eating the carrots that she found while digging in the sand.
OK, so the day before we set out for fremont I was so tired. I had spent the day cleaning my parents shed and was just exhausted from the heat, moving things, dealing with the kids, etc. I was so excited to go to bed. But, the girls fell asleep on the way home and took late naps. When I was ready for bed the girls were not. The video is the girls that night when i was putting them to bed. The good thing is that it made me laugh.

Swimming

I love Kaylee's new haircut. And she got a new suit that looks really cute on her. I tried to get some pictures of her in. Well, I should say some GOOD pictures...she never lets me take pictures of her.
She is showing me her fat stomach here.

Kaylee would only swim with Danielle.
I love daisy in this picture.
Daisy spent most of the time playing with a spoon on the patio.

Caper Acres

We spent saturday with Joey and Danielle at Caper Acres park. The park has been improved a bit. There is this new boat thing but I think the best addition is this chair you sit and spin on. I want to have one in my backyard one day. There is a video below of Peggy on it (Peggy is Ben's mom.)

More pictures

The other day we went to riverbend park and played in the water. This is Kyle, Becca fiance, taking Daisy into the water. I have been running the girls around like crazy and find them totally zonked by the time we arrive at our destination. Poor Heidi slept all slumped over.
Last night I was working late at my mom and the girls spent the night on Becca's bed. They put in Mama Mia and sang along. Daisy was SO excited to be on the bed that she wouldn't quit moving around.
Here they all are with Kyle and Scotty, too.

The haircuts

Getting all three of us a hair cut at the same time was a little difficult, especially since we had Daisy there crawling in all the hair. But, it went well and now we all look a little better (except for Heidi who looks like a grandma). All Heidi wanted was to get her hair permed. She was so excited. She didn't talk to Myrlai but she spent the whole time making faces at herself in the mirror.Kaylee was pooped by the time we got to her and she ended up falling asleep during the hair cut. The A-line in the back is a little off because she had to try and cut it while Kaylee bobbed her head back and forth falling asleep. She looks super cute. There is a video of her at the bottom falling asleep.
Here is Heidi...the mu mu only adds to her grandma look. Put some glasses on her and she could Carma.
Kaylee wouldn't smile for the picture (what a surprise).
Cute hair though.

Seven Years

Today is our 7th anniversary. Ben is in TN while I am in Oroville. Sad, but still I could not be happier about being married to Ben. He is just the best. I love how our marriage works because we pretty much let each other do what they want to do.

"Hey Ben, let's have a baby and not tell anyone about it!"
"OK." Seriously, what other husband would be willing to put up with something like that?
"Hey Shauna, since everything is switching to digital we might as well buy a big tv with our student loan money."
"Sounds good." We just love our life together.
Ben is my favorite person to hang out with. Whenever the weekend comes and we brainstorm about what we can do or what couple we could hang out with we always end up scrapping the whole idea because we would rather just hang out with each other. We love it.
And then when he comes home from work we are so excited to talk to each other that the girls aren't allowed to talk because we want to talk instead.
Today he sent me a new ringtone for when he calls. Guess what it was?? "It's Business Time" by Flight of the Concordes. How cute is that? He makes me laugh. That is why I love Ben.

Feather Fiesta Day Parade

There is a parade in Oroville every year. It is actually a pretty good parade. Tons of candy thrown, interesting floats (one had a dragon that blew real fire...I hadn't seen that float before) and good music beforehand (there is a video below of Olive who wouldn't stop dancing or running away)I love when my girls wear their hats backwards.
Heidi and Scotty who are so good playing together.
My brother Joe who was able to get Kaylee to sit with him. He helped her to get candy and bouncy balls.
Olive was scared of all the loud sirens and horns. Becca covered her ears while Olive covered her eyes. There was one float about a dancing group that she couldn't keep her eyes off of. We watched to make sure she didn't just walk off with that group.
Licorice was the only thing that kept Daisy happy for the whole two hours.

hanging out

We have been busy this week and the girls have been on the go. I feel bad because they don't go to bed until 10 each night. They have so much fun playing with their uncles that I feel bad making them go to bed. They also went on a hike with their gramma one day. Ben and his mom took the girls on a hike near table mountain.
We also went to one of Peggy's band concerts. The band is really good. Kaylee and Peggy had made brownies for it earlier that day so she was waiting around to eat the brownies.
Heidi didn't make it through the concert. She must have been pooped to fall asleep on two chairs like that.

Slip N Slide

Here are some of the highlights of our trip thus far:
1. Daisy was excellent on the plane. Five hours and she only cried when she was eating or I put her to bed. About ten minutes total. Not bad!
2. 17 Again. LOVED that movie. I am probably going to see it again.
3. Charlie's Chinese Food. It is just the best.
4. Seeing Kaylee and Olive play together. It's cute.
5. When Heidi and Scotty put their arms around each other and go off to play. They really love being together.
